Lesson 1 Workshop

TASKS GIVEN:
Prepare & propose 3 project ideas/topics. (You should have a pool of ideas for you to choose the top 3 topics that you want to work as final project)
These 3 selected project ideas have to be enquired / researched in a number of contexts listed below.
Bring your research collection to next meeting for in-depth discussion.

  • 3 similar things to what you are thinking about – both direct and indirect associations, name them, show their covers, or an image from them, you are saying ‘It will be like this...’
  • 2 sources of inspiration (music, poetry, film, game, novel) that are in play when you think about this idea
  • 1 ‘heroes’ who you associate with the work you are doing

Tips: Start with few big ideas. What are you try to tell/ communicate in your project.
The sample collection serve as a competitor analysis.

Idea #1:

Explore visual possibilities by using simple geometrical shapes through time-based medium to create optical illusion of depth, structure, architecture, space. The media platform could be projection mapping, mirror reflections of vision (lights & human figure), cross platform (screen-based) display and etc.

Similar Project B: JibJab.com

Interactive video content allows user to personalize the character in the storytelling session.

Similar Project C: Social Soul
Asks entrants to step inside their twitter feed
created for delta air lines forTED2014 — in collaboration with artists’ lauren mccarthy and kyle mcdonald — the installation comprises a larger-than-life structure, which allows visitors to step inside. once within, a 360-degree stream of monitors, mirrors and sound surrounds the entrant, displaying their social media profile as a kaleidoscope of data projected onto the reflective walls. the experience begins with visuals from the twitter feed of the person inside, then uses a custom algorithm to match them with other TED attendees and speakers. users and their social media soul mate each receive a tweet encouraging them to connect and converse. the project uses seven different languages of code and the sound is a mixture of generative audio and music composed in live. quote from Designboom

Idea #3:

Explore Augmented Reality content through bigger screen for engaging user view experience.
